Abstract

Finemet-type amorphous layers were prepared with a Cu content of 1-25 at% by co-sputtering from normal finemet and pure Cu onto a liquid-nitrogen-cooled sample holder. Thin layers with higher Cu content had very soft magnetic properties (Hc ∼ 10 A/m) already in the amorphous phase. On heat treating the 1 at% Cu layer the optimal Hc was 11 A/m after 425°C/1 h.
