Magnetic properties and structure of polydisperse ferrofluid models

Abstract

The influence of polydispersity on the equilibrium properties of dipolar systems with short range repulsive interactions was studied using canonical Monte Carlo simulation. The magnetization curves were calculated and the microstructures were analyzed as a function of density. The obtained results were compared with respect to the data determined in the monodisperse equivalents of the systems. It was found that at weak and moderate magnetic fields, the magnetization is found higher in the polydisperse system with respect to the corresponding monodisperse system.
