Local ensemble exchange potential

Abstract

A simple local ensemble exchange potential is proposed in the fractional occupation approach. It is emphasized that the excitation energies cannot generally be calculated as a difference of the one-electron energies. The extra term ∂Exc/∂w|nw is determined.
