Abstract

A lattice Boltzmann model is presented for modeling two-phase flows with phase change. Bubble growing and detachment is simulated in two-dimensions. It is shown that the results are in good qualitative agreement with measurements and other numerical simulations. The model has been used for the simulation of nucleation in a subchannel and the time evolution of the void fraction has been calculated. It is briefly discussed how this information can be used to improve interfacial mass and heat transfer models of two-phase flow CFD and system codes.
