Abstract

Introduction - Laryngeal cancer associated with pregnancy is extremely rare. The presence of the fetus makes the treatment shedule more complicated, while malignancies during pregnancy grow rapidly. Patient and Method - We present a case of a 32 year old pregnant with laryngeal cancer. The histologically pianocellular carcinoma was diagnosed on the 29th gestational week. The tumor showed an unusually rapid progression, therefore - based on the decision of a obstetrician-neonatologist-otolaryngologist- anaesthesiologist consultation - cesarean section delivering a healthy premature male weighing 1820 g was performed. On the 10th postpartum day supraglottic horizontal resection of the larynx was performed followed by irradiation. Half a year after the interventions both the mother and her child are healthy. Conclusion - For the best individual treatment of laringeal cancer in pregnancy tight obstetrician-otolaryngologist-neonatologist- anaesthesiologist cooperation is obligatory.
