Kohn mode for trapped Bose gases within the dielectric formalism

Abstract

Kohn mode for trapped Bose gases was presented in a specific finite-temperature approximation within the dielectric formalism. The undamped harmonic center-of-mass oscillations of a weakly interacting Bose gas was demonstrated in a harmonic trap. It was shown that the Kohn mode in the density oscillation spectrum disappeared from the single-particle spectrum on the reduction of number of particles in the condensate to zero.
