The Schnedl's reassociation technique was found to be suitable for producing a banding pattern on the chromosomes of NK/Ly ascites lymphoma cells. The authors succeeded in identifying the individual chromosomes. With a method of Schnedl the centrometric region stained intense with Giemsa. The much lighter staining of the centromeres in the examined chromosomes 4,5,7,12, which has also been described by others, is indicative of the polymorphism of heterochromatin. To prove this further comparative investigations on other ascites tumors are also necessary.
