ISOMERIZATION OF n-HEXANE ON NATURAL MORDENITE CATALYSTS.

Abstract

The authors studied a mordenite-containing rock sample from the Tokaj Mountains (Hungary) and its various forms modified by chemical treatment for catalytic properties during isomerization of n-hexane. Changes in chemical composition of the zeolite were followed by X-ray microanalysis after treatment with hydrochloric acid or ammonium nitrate, respectively. It was established that a catalytically active form can be produced by pretreatment of the rock. Results are compared with those obtained on a synthetic mordenite treated in a similar way.
