Abstract

Starting from H2Fe3(CO)9S and HFe3(CO)9(SBut) three new nitrosyl clusters, HFe3(CO)8(NO)S, 1, Fe3(CO)7(NO)2S, 2, and Fe3(CO)8(NO)(SBut), 3, have been prepared. The hydride complex dissociates in polar solvents as an acid and forms the anion [Fe3(CO)8(NO)S]-, la. As shown by their IR, Raman and NMR spectra, 1, 2, and 3 are present in solution in the form of several isomers. A detailed interpretation of the spectroscopic data is presented.
