Ionization by positrons and electrons of Ar at zero degrees

Abstract

The energy distributions of positrons (e+) and electrons (e -) inelastically scattered at angles around 0 degrees have been measured in coincidence with the remnant Ar+ ions at three different impact energies (100, 150 and 250 eV). The distributions have been found to be very similar for both projectiles. No structure has been observed in the scattered e+ spectrum at any incident energy which can be attributed to the predicted electron capture to the continuum process.
