Abstract

The desulfurization of the FCC gasoline and pyrolysis gasoline/FCC gasoline mixture over precious metals/support catalysts was investigated. Heteroatom removal effectiveness of a PtPd/USY-zeolite catalysts was evaluated with FCC gasoline and a mixture of HCN and pyrolysis gasoline. It was found that deep sulfurization of FCC gasolines is required to meet the stringent sulfur specifications such as CARB phase 3 or Directive 2003/17/EC of the European Parliament and the European Council. A major advantage of the catalyst is its ability to completely remove nitrogen compounds from the feed under the whole range of investigated temperature and LHSV.
