Investigation of size distribution and concentration of aerosols released at CODEX AIT experiments

Abstract

During CODEX AIT experiments, measurements of aerosol release were performed on the facility constructed in AEKI. Two different optical counters were used in the experiments. The two counters registered simultaneously the occurrence of excursion. Measured values of cumulative particle concentrations exceeded 6.5 × 105 times those of the background values, while computed values of released mass exceeded more than six orders of magnitude their background values. Following a period of ten minutes in Ar gas, cooling the counters returned to their readings at the beginning of the experiment.
