Investigation of orthogonal two-dimensional acoustooptic interaction in anisotropic media

Abstract

A two-dimensional (matrix) acoustooptic (AO) light deflector is usually constructed utilizing two consecutive, orthogonally positioned, Bragg-cells. A promising possibility for realizing such deflectors is a high resolution, efficient monocell configuration. This implies the realization of two-dimensional AO interaction in a single Bragg-cell, which strictly determines the properties of the interaction medium to possess. This work describes the effects influencing the performance of such devices and the considerations for optimum operation. Some experimental results are also demonstrated.
