Intermittency in low energy collision cascades

Abstract

The method of scaled factorial moments is used to study fluctuations of the energy distributions obtained by Monte Carlo simulation of ion induced collision cascades in solids. It is shown that the intermittent behaviour is independent of the cross section. It is found that the energy fluctuation of power-law cascades is similar to the fluctuation of the self-similar cascade only in the case of a space-filling cascade.
