Innovative SQL options in ERP development

Abstract

Enterprise Resource Planning Systems provide various core business functions in Financials, Human Resources and Logistics. Oracle and SAP, popular and successful ERP vendors worldwide, continuously improve their products. Standard Query Languages play important roles either during standard or customer developments. Because the execution of Oracle e-Business Suite and SAP Business Suite applications are still based on their relational databases, queries and reports are mainly based on SQL codes designed according to old style, but reliable and robust approaches. It is reasonable to explore how new database technologies and SQL options make changes in design methodologies consequently. This paper discusses some new features of innovative SQL development in SAP, reflecting the effectiveness of innovative options in development. It is found out that developments should designed in a proper way, when old style and new methodologies are balanced for the business functions and also for the company where the developments are introduced.
