Initial crystallization of Fe82B12Si6

The initial crystallization of amorphous Fe82B12Si6 has been studied by UV photoelectron spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. Exploiting the surface sensitivity of the UPS technique in combination with surface layer removal by ion sputtering, it is shown that thermally induced crystallization starts as a surface process.
