Infrared intensities of pregn-1,4-diene-3,20-dione derivatives

Abstract

The IR absorption intensities of the νCO and νCC bands of some pregn-1,4-diene-3,20-dione derivatives have been determined by means of a Fourier-transform infrared spectrometer. The integrated intensities were calculated by fitting Gauss-Cauchy sum functions to the experimental spectra using an iterative non-linear least-squares method and numerical integration. The intensities of the A-ring vibrations of pregn-4-ene-3,20-dione and pregn-1,4-diene-3,20-dione derivatives were compared, and the νCO band intensities of different 21-acylated derivatives were investigated.
