Infrared dichroism of oriented crystalline films of hexamethylcyclotrisiloxane

Abstract

Polarized i.r. spectra of oriented crystalline films of hexamethylcyclotrisiloxane have been recorded in the frequency range 4000-200 cm-1. No significant change of the molecular D3h symmetry was found in the crystal. The results are interpreted on the basis of the oriented gas model. Earlier assignments of the i.r. active fundamental modes are reinvestigated and partly modified.
