Infrared analysis for process control in the pulp and paper industry

Abstract

Almost all chemical and physical information on pulp and paper are contained in the infrared spectra. Through an innovative evaluation of the spectra, it is possible to determine the breaking length, the burst strength, the Concora medium test value, and other strength properties directly from the spectra. Infrared analysis and modern software for assessing the spectra make it possible to measure strength properties online for immediate feedback and process control.
