Information semantics of defuzzification in fuzzy control

Abstract

This paper proposes a formal semantics of the measure S(π) for U(π). The proposed semantics links its value with information regarding acceptability of preferences with given possibilities. By providing the semantics for S(π), a theoretical explanation of the experimental success of its use in control engineering is obtained.
