Influence of cross subshell excitations on the collective states of Mo98 observed by decay and (n,n) reaction spectroscopy

Abstract

Calculations within the framework of the neutron-proton interacting boson model with configuration mixing have been tested using data acquired from in-beam and beta decay experiments. The (n,n) reaction on enriched targets of Mo98 has been used to identify 28 levels of J6 up to 3212 keV in Mo98 Levels with 3J6 have been studied by -ray spectroscopy of Nbm98 produced by enriched targets of Mo98 subjected to 14-MeV neutrons. When neutron-proton interacting-boson-model calculations that mix N=1, Nv=3 with cross subshell proton pair excitations of the type N=3, Nv=3 are performed, we can account for all the level properties of Mo98 up to 2100 keV.
