Abstract

A description is given of the problems and solutions raised during the design and establishment of a computer controlled manufacturing cell. It consists of an industrial robot surrounded by three machine tools. The robot is responsible for transporting the workpieces between the machine tools and the stock. The adaptation of the robot for this purpose involved the development of two grippers and a microprocesor based sampled data controller.
