Abstract

The modern studies of the natural sciences attempt to reconstruct the major steps of the biological and cultural evolution of man. A theory might be a modest contribution in which we assume that the most important factor in the emergence of man was not the natural selection among individuals but the selection among individualized proto-cultural groups. The emergence of group awareness helped the use of symbols which led to the rise of language and abstract thinking. The personality of modern man is the interacting component of group cultures which is a complex autonomous system. Individuals and the group mutually define each other. The harmony of these interactions has broken down when modern societies had been formed and this is the final cause of the most of our problems in the present time.
