Independent scaling of a delay in frequency-domain system identification

Abstract

In frequency-domain identification of systems with delay, the delay can be scaled independently of the transfer function to which it is associated. Practical examples show that in most situations, the delay is properly scaled with the commonly used scaling. Examples have been provided where independent scaling can be useful to improve numerical conditioning and to enhance identiflability. Algorithms are proposed for these purposes and for system analysis.
