Abstract

It was found that in the dechlorination process not only the chlorine content of the coal could be removed but also the secondary desulphurization of the coal sample took place. Both the chlorinated and dechlorinated coals have higher thermal values than the original untreated fuel. Firing the processed coal, the sulphur dioxide emission is remarkably less than that of the untreated coals.
