Abstract

The distribution in sign of the principal component of the electric field gradient tensor and the average value of the asymmetry parameter were determined using the magnetic perturbation method of quadrupolar **5**7Fe Moessbauer spectra. The local order of the Fe structural environment is compared in amorphous, metastable and crystalline phases of FeZr//3. The sensitivity and the limitations of this method are pointed out.
