Impact-parameter dependence of the ionization probability in the CDW-EIS approximation

Abstract

We calculate the ionization probability of helium and neon targets under bare-ion impact as a function of impact parameters for given electron energies and angles. The CDW-EIS approximation is used together with a Hartree-Fock description of the target bound and continuum states. We discuss, in particular, cusp and binary electron emission as a function of impact parameter.
