Immunological tests were carried out in patients with systemic L.E. Antigen-HLA typing revealed a significantly higher frequency of the antigens HLA-B5-B8 and of the haplotype HLA-A1,B8. The study of direct lymphocyte lysis may give positive or negative results, with fairly good correlation with the active and inactive stages of the disease. Patients with systemic L.E. showed decreased reactivity in this skin test, especially during active stages of the disease. Study of the mononuclear ADCC activity in the peripheral blood of patients with systemic L.E. revealed a decreased activity of K cells. Monocytary phagocytosis was impaired in blood samples from patients with systemic L.E.
