Hydrogenolysis of 3-methylpentane over group VIII metals

Abstract

Determination of the ζ "fragmentation factor" in a wide conversion range over Group VIII metals and Re indicated that the "single" character of the hydrogenolysis of 3-methylpentane is an inherent property of the catalyst and is almost independent of the conversion level. "Multiple" hydrogenolysis occurs in most cases as rapid subsequent terminal splitting.
