Abstract

Because of their heat capacity human beings emit energy to the environment in the form of IR radiation. This long-wave IR radiation can be utilized in passive IR detectors to switch on devices automatically. A new technique is to use a plastic film of pyroelectric polyvinylidene fluoride to detect the heat energy.
