Abstract

In the beginning of development histones are localized to the yolk granules. At the start of the cleavage lysine rich histones characterize the blastomeres on the vegetal pole and arginine rich histones those on the animal pole. The histone is situated in the cytoplasm in the blastula, while in the late morula it can be detected in the nucleolus too. At the beginning of the gastrulation, the cell nuclei of the presumptive notochord display first arginine rich histones.
