High efficiency phase conjugation of broadband laser pulses in BaTiO3

Abstract

A new method is proposed for high efficiency phase conjugation (PC) of broadband laser sources. The input beam was spectrally dispersed to decouple the index gratings written by different frequency components. The experimental realization of the system in a self-pumped configuration allowed a high efficiency PC of broadband laser pulses in a BaTiO3 crystal. The pulses were generated by a Ti:sapphire laser pumped by a frequency-doubled acousto-optically Q-switched Nd:YAG laser. A PC reflectivity of up to 25% with 13 nm FWHM spectra was obtained.
