Abstract

The method for the preparation of (R)- and (S)-α-hydroxy esters was studied. The enantioselective heterogeneous catalytic hydrogenation of α-ketoesters was performed. The results showed that under optimized experimental conditions enantioselectivity exceeded 90%. A platinum-alumina catalyst modified with cinchona alkaloids was used for the reaction.
