### Abstract

The potential overlap for the A(a, b)B (a = b + x) reaction is W_{a, bx}(R) = 〈Φ_{b}Φ_{x}|V_{bx}|Φ_{ a}〉_{R}, where the Φ are internal wave functions and V_{bx} is the sum of internucleon forces between b and x. For a system a = b + x described by the two-cluster generator-coordinate model, we give two exact and two much simpler approximate procedures to evaluate W(R) analytically. To test the feasibility of the exact procedures and the accuracy of the approximate ones, all have been carried through for the ^{7}Li = α + t system. The test shows that the exact techniques are likely to be feasible even for more complicated systems, at least if symbolic computation is used, but, being very accurate, one of the simple methods is also recommendable.
