Abstract

The mode of neutron standing waves has been accomplished for the first time at the reflection of polarized thermal neutrons. In the range of λ from 2 to 7 Å, the standing wave period varied from 250 to 500 Å. The structure glass/Cu(1000 Å)/Ti(2000 Å)/Co(60 Å)/Ti(300 Å) placed in the magnetic field directed at an angle to the specimen plane has been studied. It has been shown that the standing neutron wave mode can be used to determine the spatial position of the magnetic layer with a high sensitivity.
