Gas Electron Diffraction Study of the Molecular Structure of Di-2-pyridyl Sulphide

Abstract

The gas-phase electron diffraction study of di-2-pyridyl sulphide has yielded rg(S—C) 1.786 ± 0.00Å A and [FORMULA OMITTED] C—S—C 104.4 ± 1.7°. The dimensions of the pyridyl groups were found to be consistent with those of free pyridine molecules. Models with various conformational properties could be used to approximate the experimental data.
