Frequency domain analysis of sampling phase-locked loops

Abstract

The exact system equation of sampling phase-locked loops (SPLLs) is presented. A frequency-domain analysis has been developed to determine the modulation and noise properties of the circuit. The results of the proposed analysis are in good agreement with the measured data. It is shown that due to sampling the SPLL is very sensitive to noise and additional periodic signals.
