### Abstract

The density functional theory was demonstrated to be a field of physics that can be obtained from the principle of extreme physical information. By the usual variational principle the Euler equation of density functional theory can be derived as the main differential equation, that can be, in principle, used to determine the density which was the fundamental quantity in density functional theory. This paper derives the Euler equation from the principle of extreme physical information.
