Abstract

The authors reports on the detection of Enterococcus (E.) casseliflavus in milk samples having high somatic cell count, the first time in Hungary. The samples were taken from a high lactating dairy herd south from Budapest in Pest County. The aim of the study was the identification of the pathogen-profile and the determination of antibiotic resistance of the cultured pathogens. The main udder health problem was the widespread Staphylococcus aureus infection of the herd, but besides casseliflavus was cultured in pure culture from several samples.
