Abstract

The main framework of a recommendation system worked out in the Research Institute of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry, Budapest is presented. The basis of this system is a description of the main processes in the soils, i.e., water balances, soil physical and chemical processes. Information about the environmental effects of intensive land use is also given. Data is provided on nutrient contents of different soil layers and fertiliser requirements of crops, and the behaviour of nitrogen forms, phosphorus and potassium are discussed in the light of the fertiliser recommendation system. -Author
