Abstract

The paper describes a manufacturing process planning methodology that is specific to the knowledge-based PRODES system. First an overview is given on the approaches to workpiece modelling and feature-based integrated design and planning in the PRODES system. Then the concepts, methods and the implementation of process planning is considered. Finally the results of the development of the PRODES system are outlined.
