Feasibility study of high energy channeling experiments at the debrecen cyclotron

Channeling investigations have been performed on the 20 MeV MGC cyclotron of the Institute of Nuclear Research of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. A two-axis goniometer has been installed on a large scattering chamber. The beam quality was ensured and tested for the channeling purposes. Silicon single crystals cut perpendicular to 〈100〉 axis were used as test targets for the high energy irradiations. The 4He2+ beam was used at low beam current (<10 nA) for the systematic study. The theoretical and semi-empirical predictions on the energy dependence of the fundamental channeling parameters were tested and compared with the theory and the literature.
