Extremely short intermolecular N(sp2)⋯Cl contact in the bis-2,4-(biphenyl-4-yloxy)-6-chloro-[1,3,5]triazine crystal

Abstract

The crystal structure of bis-2,4-(biphenyl-4-yloxy)-6-chloro-[1,3,5] triazine (1) reveals an extremely short 3.05 Å N⋯Cl interaction. The butterfly-shaped molecule 1 lies on a mirror plane thus forming an infinite polymeric chain along the c crystallographic axis via N⋯Cl interactions. Structural databank (CSD) analysis shows that this kind of short contact exists primarily in mirror-symmetric molecules.
