Abstract

A simple and fast chromatographic separation procedure based on zirconium-phosphate has been developed to remove the matrix activities of **4**2K, **2**4Na and **1**8F from the primary coolant of WWER type NPPs* thus allowing the radiochemical gamma -spectrometric analysis of the majority of fission products (**1**3**1I, **1**3**2I, **1**3**3I, **1**3**4I, **1**3**5I, **1**3**4Cs, **1**3**6Cs, **1**3**7Cs, **8**6Rb) within a couple of hours after sampling.
