Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the incidence (n=53) and laparoscopic reposition (n=43) of the left displacement of abomasum (LDA) in Hungary. In this study the mean lactation incidence of LDA was 3.8%. The majority of LDAs occurred in the first month of lactation, 19.2% was reported in the first two weeks postpartum, 76.9% within the first month, and 84.6% within the first six weeks postpartum. The distribution of the cows with LDA by age and lactation in their data set has not correlated with the distribution by age (p=0.92) and lactation (p=0.73). In contrast, there was a group in which 80% of cases with LDA originated from first calf heifers (n=10). There was a significant difference in the decrease of the morning milk production between LDA and control group but it was not earlier observed than on the day before diagnosis (day -1., p=0.015). In contrast, there was a remarkable continuous difference in the morning milk production (10.5±4,5 vs. 22.2±4.9 litre, p
