Examinations of the Gomori positive cells of the thymus in tissue culture

Abstract

In thymus tissue cultures of rats of various ages Gomori positive cells were demonstrated. They contained PAS positive material and show histamine like fluorescence. The influence of thyrotrophic stimulating hormone and extracts from neurohypophysis causes the increase of the number of these cells. As shown by microcinematographic study, the 2 forms of these cells, round and elongated, change mutually one into another. The secretion of the cells could also be seen.
