Abstract

The key step in the phase transfer catalyzed cyclization reaction between olefines and CH-acids, in the presence of solid potassium carbonate and iodine, is the iodosubstitution of the CH-acid. Based on this fact a new phase transfer catalytic method was developed to the preparation of iodomalonic esters. A versatile method was developed to the dealkoxycarbonylation of the sterically crowded bicyclic cyclopropanecarboxylic acid lactones obtained by the ptc-cyclization method via a non-hydrolytic ester cleavage followed by a Barton-type decarboxylation, too.
