A method is described for evaluating glass capillary columns for GC-MS applications. Each column should be tested before GC-MS measurements for temperature stability, separating power and column quality (inertness). Four test mixtures have been used under different operating conditions. Data were collected by digital data acquisition and were evaluated on a Wang 2200 computer. Five columns prepared by different techniques were compared and evaluated. The columns show different characteristics depending on the pretreatment applied.
