Abstract

By help of the McFee Parungo system, the authors compared the hemodynamic data of patients with valvular defects of the heart with the ECG parameters, so far considered normal, and the computer calculated vector cardiogram parameters. The best correlation coefficient values of the vector cardiogram parameters from patients with various cardiac defects were around 0.4, indicating no close relations. The correlation between ECG and hemodynamic parameters is by far better. Selected patients in whom the disturbing effect of left ventricular hypertrophy could be eliminated showed certain vector cardiogram parameters with correlation coefficients above 0.7 with total pulmonary resistance.
