ENERGETIC AND ECONOMIC ASPECTS OF VAPOUR RECOMPRESSION DISTILLATION.

Abstract

Opposite to conventional distillation, in vapour recompression distillation systems the energy passed through the column does not depreciate entirely, but becomes reuseable by adding external mechanical work. A computer program for determining the energetic and economic aspects of the application of heat pumps is elaborated. The influence of the degree of separation, column pressure, feed rate, energy cost, relative volatility etc. on the energetic aspects and economic ranges of application are presented in examples. The influence of individual parameters on the returns of investment is also simulated.
